Morning & Evening Hours
For many patients, sedation is the best way to make dental visits more efficient and less stressful. Prior to your visit, Dr. Petersen or Dr. Wagner can provide a carefully-prescribed medication that will completely relax you and allow you to rest throughout your treatment. You will still be conscious and able to communicate with our team, but you will likely have very little memory of the experience.
Sedation isn’t just for patients with dental anxiety, though. Sedation can make dental visits significantly more manageable for people who have a strong gag reflex that interferes with dental treatment or individuals who need extensive treatment that requires long visits.
We also offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas), which is a gentle, low-stress alternative to sedation. When inhaled, nitrous oxide creates a sense of well-being and relaxation while still leaving you fully conscious throughout treatment. Administering nitrous oxide requires only a mask over the nose (no shots), making it an excellent option for both adults and children.
If you’re nervous about your visit or have had bad dental experiences in the past, please share your feelings and concerns with us! We cater our approach to your needs, so the more we know about your dental history the better equipped we’ll be to care for your smile.
